The Fountain and the Lake

Bear Force One discovered a secret door in the Kordian temple that led them to the secret courtyard. There they found the fountain of clensing, but it was not functioning. Before the fountain stood two goblets of different sizes and a wooden bowl accompanied by an encrypted inscription. While most of the companions tried to determine the origin of the mysterious letters, Lachdanon unscrambled the letters and quickly solved (owned!) the puzzle. The fountain sprang to life and Lachdanon and Hoots McGee were cured! Aldric wisely filled his waterskin with the healing water.

The companions discussed plans to explore the river, but an enchanted door in the courtyard distracted them. To prove himself to Aldric, Lane approached the door and opened it, encountering debilitating cold and a pack of vampires. The vamps attacked, but the REAL danger turned out to be a couple of rose bushes stationed near the entrance. Luckily, these baddies were slain with little sacrifice.

Beyond the columned hall, they found a room containing an operating table, some silver operating tools, and numerous jars of bones and other body parts. It seemed that someone had been performing operations on lycanthropes, possibly at the behest of Lord Rayne (who was a warewolf himself). Upon discovering an arena suspended above the lake, this theory was corroborated as Hal received a tweet from a spirit. The tweet explained that in this arena, the priests would engage in mortal combat with lycanthropes, and then perform experiments on them in search of a cure for lycanthropy.

Returning to the temple, Aldric drinks the potion of water walking and sets out across the lake to uncover its secrets. He finds a cave and the others join him by floating disc. In the cave they fight some kobolds and some orcs. Aldric disappears for a few minutes at the end of the battle, and after the orcs are defeated, the party finds an alter with an empty pillow. Something is missing!!

Into the (sex) dungeon

Bear Force One found themselves in a skeezy sex chamber. Though they longed to stay and play, they left to find themselves in a dungeon. Kinky.

In the dungeon they met Lane Fenwood, a wandering eladrin bard of some repute. He was imprisoned by Lord Rayne after accidentally performing an offending ballad (the rains of castormere). Needless to say, the company and Lane got along swimmingly, except for Aldric’s harsh judgement and mistrust, that is. With their new companion beside them, they set out to infiltrate the mysterious walled-in courtyard in the Lord’s manor, hoping that it would contain the fountain of healing.

Lane suddenly recalled the flesh eating bats that terrorized him and the other prisoners every night. Yeah, watch out for those buggers.

A secret door in the dungeon led to a temple of Kord, where some blue kobalds were cavorting. Cooley announcing her presence, Zora engaged the kobalds in deadly combat. The heroes trounced the kobalds, but two of them escaped, jumping into a nearby lake. After searching the temple, they found an ornate Kordian text which, upon inspection, turned out to be Lord Rayne’s family bible. Scribbled notes in the margins… Something about gauntlets…

For the sake of thoroughness, Aldric investigated a door on the second level. He cautiously entered the pitch black room only to discover that it was in fact the priest’s confessional… FULL OF DILDOS!! Terrified, Aldric retreated and left the other confessionals un-explored.

The Opening Feast

Bear Force One came to Queen Meglathorn of Mank’s castle. The queen gave the adventurers a quest to locate the legendary Golden Gauntlet in order to challenge and defeat the being responsible for loosing a wave of vicious beasts on Kordenia.

Because Kordenia is a lawful and religious land, the queen suggested the adventurers seek information from holy citizens as they travel. (Or she meant to. >.>) The party had a scuffle with werebeasts shortly after they hit the road, but came out triumphant. Following the man and woman who set the beasts on them, they entered a village called Lage.

In Lage, the party watched the villagers flee at the sight of a red flag. They discovered from a villager that red flags mean vicious creatures nearby—in this case, wolves. The villager told them that Lord Rayne’s castle to the east was attacked and entirely overrun in one wave of attacks.

The party moved on to the bar to talk to the barkeep, who fed them and sold them drinks. Meanwhile, Aldric hopped from roof to roof to check out the place. He found nothing major out of sorts, but did manage to stay hidden. The party felt that the barkeep wasn’t entirely forthcoming, so they went to the priestess to see what they could learn there. She took their confessions, and had just begun to answer to the group when screams outside drew their attention away. Ding, dong, rats. Battle number two is on.
